Created as a clone of Wolverine, X-23 shares her “father’s” claws and healing factor. As a child, she was exploited by the malicious Facility, but now she has become a fierce protector of the young and the innocent—especially her own clone and adopted sister, Gabby.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the X-23 Hero Pack for Marvel Champions: The Card Game!

This scrappy mutant tears her way into battle with this expansion pack, which introduces X-23 as a new playable hero alongside her sixteen signature cards. With a pre-built Aggression deck ready to play right away, you’ll be able to rip through the villain’s forces from the moment you open the box. With her ability to ready after taking damage and utter refusal to back down, X-23 is a formidable force on the battlefield.

Shhnk!

As a clone of Wolverine, Laura Kinney (X-23, 1B) has some similar features to him, including a massive REC of 6 and a permanent upgrade in the form of her claws (X-23, 2). However, while their powers may be similar, the way X-23 (X-23, 1A) fights is very different.

Where Wolverine used his hit points as a resource for playing attacks, X-23’s Living Weapon ability turns her hit points into a source of momentum. With the ability to ready after taking any amount of damage—from any source—once per phase, X-23 is all about using multiple actions in a round to overwhelm the villain with sheer force. Thwart with X-23’s respectable THW of 2, then use her claws to damage (and thus ready) her and grant her an ATK buff for the rest of the round. Slash the villain with her boosted ATK, then follow up with Honey Badger (X-23, 3) and ready X-23 again to keep the momentum going.

Speaking of Honey Badger, X-23’s adopted sister forms a core part of her kit. Her Claw Mastery (X-23, 5) provides additional benefits while Honey Badger is in play, and Regenerative Longevity (X-23, 6) can ensure both Laura and Gabby stay in the fight for as long as possible. Use Sisterly Bond (X-23, 7) to boost Honey Badger’s stats, and then, when she inevitably ends up in your discard pile, call on the power of Sisterhood (X-23, 8) to bring her right back.

Even without Honey Badger, X-23 is still a force to be reckoned with. Her Pain Tolerance (X-23, 11) can keep her healthy while her Grim Resolve (X-23, 10), can give her a steady flow of resources (and potentially readies)! If an enemy’s causing trouble, inflict them with a Puncture Wound (X-23, 12) or two and keep the aggressive streak going.

Speaking of aggressive streak, X-23’s pre-built deck provides even more ways for you to overwhelm the enemy. Have Boom Boom (X-23, 13) charge up a massive blast while Rictor (X-23, 14) helps you keep the villain’s minions in check. Between her claws and her Claw Mastery, X-23 can reach 5 ATK from her signature kit alone; add in the “Now I’m Mad” (X-23, 19) upgrade, and she can push it even higher. With such sky-high ATK, she can take full advantage of Moment of Triumph (X-23, 17) and carve huge chunks of threat off schemes with the new “assault” keyword, such as the player side scheme Keep Them Busy (X-23, 18) or any scheme with The Direct Approach (X-23, 20) attached.

X-23’s pack also comes with new “linked” cards, which aren’t actually included in your deck, but rather are set aside when the game begins and can only enter play when the card they’re linked to is resolved. In this case, the cards Combat Specialist (X-23, 34), Defense Specialist (X-23, 35), Front Line Specialist (X-23, 36), and Surveillance Specialist  (X-23, 37) are all linked to the Specialized Training (X-23, 21) player side scheme, which is included in X-23’s pre-built deck. Defeat that scheme, and each player can claim one of these special upgrades as a reward!
